The Renovation Completed
Operations have now begun in the new addition of our manufacturing facility. The project was completed this past summer; and adds 22,500 square feet to our existing plant. .
In addition to the new building, we expanded our material handling capabilities including industrial racking to better utilize the extended floor-space; a new overhead crane system for our shipping department and new fork lifts that allow us to reduce aisle width and take full advantage of our new storage facilities.
We also made a major purchase of a state of the art CNC High Definition Plasma Cutter. This unit is capable of cutting in excess of 1-inch thick steel with tolerances comparable to that of a laser, yet at a fraction of the cost. Along with the machine we purchased a “nesting” program that allows us to maximize the parts cut from each steel and aluminum sheet. This greatly improves our material utilization and reduces scrap. The objective is to bring fabrication of parts back “in-house” – allowing us to control costs and ensure quality while guaranteeing that scheduled targets are met.
This investment has allowed us to rearrange the factory in a way that greatly increases our manufacturing efficiency. This includes keeping the product and all materials indoors – under one roof – from the initial receiving of raw materials – all the way until the product is loaded and shipped out.
